The two most common sizes are 3 1/8" x 230' (for full-size POS printers like Epson TM-T88, Star TSP100, Clover Station) and 2 1/4" x 74' (for credit card terminals like Verifone, Ingenico, Clover Mini). Standard thermal paper receipts typically remain legible for 3-5 years under normal storage conditions. Heat, sunlight, and contact with plastics (like vinyl wallets) can accelerate fading. Thermal paper uses heat-sensitive coating — the printer's thermal print head creates the image without ink or ribbons. Bond paper (also called impact paper) is standard paper used in dot-matrix printers that strike through an ink ribbon.
